This piece was a big challenge for me, because I worked with architecture and difficult perspective for the first time, which means I had to plan the whole composition from the beginning, which I normally don't do. Just the process of getting the perspective right and the elements in place took the time I normally use to finish a piece. There was also a lot of texture work involved. Although it's still far from perfect, I learned a ton about perspective, which is great.
The perspective in this piece is nicely done and helps the entire flow. The characters being so much smaller than everything else helps reinforce the vastness of the hall. The shadows and sunbeams create patterns of light and dark that seem to flow naturally. You can almost see the dust motes in the air. The wood floors seem to shine and the brick smooth. Both these and the texture on the banners are touches of realism. One thing I would recommend adding though are the shadows and reflections of the characters, as they appear to be missing. This is almost majestic in a sense and has a rich feel. The entire feeling is one of warmth. All in all, a lovely piece. I can tell you but both time and effort into its creating.
