Done for the art test over at The ArtOrder.

It was entirely painted in Photoshop. Hope you like it!

Update: After reading critiques (especially what *keepwalking07 pointed out about scale), I made the house smaller, and I think it looks much more convincing now. Let me know what you think ;)

This piece creates a setting that is very peaceful and serene. The impact though is not that big as it seems quiet almost. The clouds, shadows, and sunbeams are all so beautifully blended and add and air of realism. The details of smoke rising from the chimney and the lighted windows were nice. The half-buried plants by the gate help paint a realistic setting. The mountains in the background really help frame the small house. There are a few small issues with the perspective though. While the mountains are pretty well-scaled, the house seems just a little to large for the landscape as it looks about the same size as the large stone by the gate. Overall a nice piece. :)

The artwork here is original.
I love the colour and the tones that are used in this painting, especially the sunrise (or sunset).

The values in this painting are done quite well. They work quite will with perspective, though I think the perspective could of been done better. I like how the steps lead up to the house, but I don't like the stone thing at the gate but that is just my opinion on it.

There wasn't really an impact on me, it's a nice piece of artwork but I don't really feel anything towards this, I would like to hear what other artists have to say about the impact of this painting.

Overall this painting is great and would be a good addition for your portfolio (if you have one).

Very nice work.
The contrasts are very strong on the left part of your painting, of course because of the overlay that must be darker ; but my eye is caught there, as if something had to happen here (Maybe as if I had to stop at this place). I think it's a beautiful realistic piece, but for the narration, I don't understand what it wants to tell me and I think it is because of your choice of light. The athmosphere is about of being peaceful, mystic, both cold and warm at some points : so it creates a mysterious feeling. I don't know if I want to go on this road and enter the house or if it's a trap. If you want the house to be welcoming, the light isn't at the right place.
Again, I really like this piece, and be sure that it is amazing only by reading the different creactions you've received on it :D

Hey, thank you very much for the feedback. Mysterious is closer to what I wanted to portray. The contrast you see on the left was planned like a secondary focal point because the fence is a storytelling element. I wanted the viewer to see the abandoned fence and think "who lives there? why are the windows lit if the fence and road are abandoned?" etc. But I get your point. Many people have expressed mixed feelings towards the painting or found it not so easy to see what I was trying to say. And I believe that has to do with the execution. I will take it into account for my next paintings :)
